As College Fees Climb, Aid Does Too

Source: Online article posted on nytimes.com

College tuition, which has risen almost eight percent this year, is becoming overwhelmingly expensive.  However, studies have shown that more scholarship money and financial aid is being given to counteract the effects of rising tuition.

This article relates to my internship because scholarship money and financial aid is being given to fund tuition that couldn’t be afforded, while the Foundation funds programs that are not in the budget for Midway ISD.  Funds given are providing students with greater opportunities than they could receive without aid and donation.

This is a very responsible practice, and something that should be continued as tuition costs increase.  If tuition keeps rising without being accompanied by financial aid, a great number of potential college students will have to pass on higher education, or end up with great amounts of debt and loans, none of which is good for the already weak economy in America.
