Chico High's Eco-Friendly Building

Chico High School, of Chico, Calif.,  has opened a new eco-friendly building that houses 22 classrooms.  The new building, equipped with a solar panel system to power the facilities, contains state of the art features like lights that control themselves according to sunlight.

With the condition of the earth today, it is an important aspect of PR that organizations be seen as green.  It adds an aspect of trust to the organization that is appreciated by members and outsiders.

This article provides a look at efforts to improve the environment.  PR coverage is important for an event like this, especially because the school is government funded.  I think the way the school went about the promotion of its efforts is appropriate, considering the district has accomplished a large feat by making a building that completely powers itself.  Hopefully, by setting a positive example, Chico High School will encourage more schools to subscribe to the green initiative.
